The Ozark Natural Science Center near Huntsville, Arkansas has several programs in store for interested adults and families. The center is located about 3 miles off Highway 23 in the McIlroy Madison County Wildlife, between Huntsville and Eureka Springs. The center hosts educational, nature-inspired summer camps for school-aged youth, and also provides nature related programs for adults. Coming up this month:

Standard Wilderness First Aid (24 hours)

$225

March 19 – 21

Immerses participants in basic wilderness medicine procedures, preparing individuals to take immediate action when an outdoor adventure doesn’t go as planned and 911 responders are hours away. Includes interactive classroom sessions and hands-on field scenarios to prepare participants and quickly develop basic backcountry medical care skills. The course focuses on patient assessment, stabilization and emergency treatment of issues such as hypothermia and snakebites, as well as understanding when and how to attempt evacuation. Participants will emerge capable of calmly responding to a wide variety of emergency scenarios.

Waterfalls & Wildflowers Weekend: March 24

$25/adult ● $40/couple ● $20/child

What better way to begin spring than to get out and enjoy two of its most beautiful features? Grab your boots and camera, and join ONSC Teacher Naturalists on a tour of local waterfalls including Fishtrap Falls, Upper Bear Hollow Falls and Kettle Falls, vistas such as the Kings River Overlook and the beautiful colors of spring wildflowers. All ages welcome, though we will hike off trail over uneven terrain. Begins 9:00 a.m. and includes lunch, dinner and snacks.

Women’s Yoga Retreat

$275

Spring: Mar. 30 – Apr. 1

Mark your calendar – we promise you will not want to miss our annual Women’s Yoga Retreat! Space is limited and this getaway experience is appropriate for beginners as well as those experienced with yoga. And, if sitting on our porch rockers experiencing the beauty of the Bear Hollow Natural Area is your idea of “yoga” and meditation, we encourage that too.

This is not a regimented weekend! Join us for both athletic and relaxed yoga instruction, informative hikes or birding walks, a massage and facial, optional sunrise yoga, bonding around the campfire and giggling like you’re back at camp (you are!) with girlfriends old and new. All meals, beverages, instruction, lodging and a massage and facial are included!
