Tulsa Area’s January Events Are Varied and Plentiful

You won’t run out of things to do with the many January events offered by communities throughout northeast Oklahoma’s Green Country. Everything from fantastic concerts to exciting rodeos and awe-inspiring eagle watches beacon. For a detailed schedule of events, see GreenCountryOk.com or TravelOk.com

Here are some of the area’s highlights.

Bartlesville hosts an on-going exhibit, Light Up Bartlesville Photo Contest; 1989, until the end of the month at the Bartlesville Area History Museum, while the Price Tower Arts Center exhibits Oklahoma Moderne: The Art and Design of Olinka Hrdy until the 13th. The beautiful Community Center is the place to be on the 16th for The Temptations Live in Concert and on the19th for Heroes, Monsters and Madmen, featuring the Broadway roles of artist Craig Schulman.

Broken Arrow remembers the Beatles with Yesterday-A Tribute to the Beatles on the 26th, sponsored by the Arts and Humanities Council, North Intermediate High School Auditorium.

Claremore presents the Green Country Classic Ranch Rodeo and Cowboy Tradeshow on Jan. 11-12 at that city’s Expo Center.

Visit Hulbert for toe-tapping fun at the Western Hills Bluegrass Festival on the 16th. While in Kaw City on the 19th, you’ll be amazed at the grace and power of soaring eagles during the Kaw Lake Ultimate Eagle Watch.

In Miami, J.R.’s Rubber Band performs at the Coleman Theatre on Jan. 26.

If you love good food, Muskogee’s Civic Center is the place to be on Jan. 14 for the Dr. Martin Luther King Soul Food Cook-Off.

Green Country’s largest city, Tulsa, certainly offers plenty to do this month. Performing Arts Center performances include The Ten Tenors, 8-13th; The Enso Quartet, 13th; comic George Carlin, 25th; and the B.B. King Concert, 26th. There’s the Longhorn World Championship Rodeo on the 4th; the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals the 9th-12th; and the Tulsa Boat, Sport and Travel Show at Expo Center from Jan. 28th until Feb. 3.

Exhibits include Tulsa Air and Space Museum’s Airplay Traveling Exhibit, an interactive experience for all ages, on Jan. 1, and The Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art exhibit Sons of Adam, Daughters of Eve: Biblical Images in Art, through Jan. 20. Also, be sure to check the schedules of Philbrook and Gilcrease Museums.

The Oklahoma Aquarium educates and entertains with its School Break Sea Camp on the 21st, but anytime is the perfect time to visit this treasure.

At the beautiful Tenkiller State Park in Vian you’ll find Eagle Tours and Loon Watches from the 19th until the 26th.

Wagoner rounds out the community offerings with a relaxing Yoga Retreat at The Canebrake Resort, Jan. 18-20.
