Jefferson City, Mo. — Attorney General Jay Nixon today provided the Missouri State Highway Patrol with the names and other information of 249 additional convicted sex offenders identified as having pages on the popular social networking Web site MySpace.com. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is working to remove lead from around historical lead mining sites in Missouri.

Missouri’s Department of Mental Health is planning to eliminate 484 state caseworkers that currently assist developmentally disabled and retarded individuals. The plan is to replace those workers with private sector case managers.
The department’s plan still needs legislative approval and department officials say they believe the change will ultimately result in more case managers with better client interaction and improved car overall.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) figures for loan charge-offs in the St. Louis area show the impact of the real estate market meltdown is hitting the nation’s midsection hard.
Net charge-offs (loans that banks are forced to write off less amounts they are able to recover from older bad loans) are 20 times higher than they were just a year ago.
