Wildlife Workshop Planned at Clinton

A wildlife workshop featuring white-tailed deer, bobwhite quail and habitat management will be offered 1 to 7 p.m. on March 3 at the Elks Lodge in Clinton.

Jason Sumners, deer biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), will talk about “Quality Deer Management.” Sumners will talk about how property owners can utilize habitat and deer herd management to achieve goals for their land.

Thomas Dailey, a former MDC biologist who is now assistant director of the National Bobwhite Conservation Initiative, will provide an update on that national program to conduct research and aid the rebound of quail populations in the United States.

Rodger Benson, owner of Professional Weed Management Services, will discuss using herbicides to reduce unwanted vegetation and boost plants and shrubs utilized by wildlife.

Admission is $15, which includes the workshops and a buffet dinner following the presentations. The event is sponsored by the Truman Lake Chapter of the Quail and Upland Wildlife Federation. For tickets or information, contact Matt Hill at 660-492-0247 or Jef Hodges at 660-885-6127.
