Wildlife officers with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission have charged five Pike County hunters with multiple hunting violations. The Pike County officers have closed the five-month case that will net close to 50 violations including night hunting, hunting out of season and wasting game.

The five individuals are all minors. Wildlife officers had been working on hunting complaints for several months in Pike County, but didn’t have a lot to go on. Until, they got a call on Dec. 22 from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s deputies had arrested two individuals on unrelated charges and were interviewing them when they confessed to illegal hunting activities.

One individual’s written statement revealed many night hunting, hunting out of season, road hunting and wasting game violations that he and several other individuals had been involved with in northern Pike County. He also provided information on what guns were being used.

Weapons seized included a Winchester Model 70 .243 rifle, a Westernfield .30-06 rifle, a .22 long rifle and a .22 WMR rifle.
