Petit Jean’s Mountain Rendezvous Gives a Glimpse of the Past

By Arkansas Game and Fish

First posted on 10-29-2009

Many Arkansans enjoy a look at life in the long ago even if modern conveniences like air conditioning and cell phones are accepted and expected.

Visitors to Petit Jean State Park just after thanksgiving can experience a primitive camp, and learn some of the survival skills used by early Arkansas pioneers. It is the 12th annual Mountain Rendezvous on Nov. 27-29 at the popular park near Morrilton.

The event includes a variety of demonstrations such as how to use muzzle-loading rifles and tomahawk throwing. Contact the park online at http://www.petitjeanstatepark.com or by phone at 501-727-5441 for a detailed program schedule. Admission is free.
