MO Conservation to Offer Seedlings Online

If you have been looking for inexpensive tree seedlings for your land, farm or home, the Missouri Department of Conservation may be able to hook you up. The department will be offering seedling bundles through an online ordering form beginning November 15 and continuing on through the end of April, 2009.

Seedlings come from the George O. White State Forest Nursery near Licking, Missouri and are packed in bundles of 25 plants. Bundles range in price from $3 to $30 depending on the species or mix. Seedlings can be bare root or up to three years old, also depending on the species.

Special bundle packs are also available for people who want fewer seedlings but need a variety of plants for particular purposes. The department offers five special bundles:

Pecan Variety Bundle which contains four different varieties of pecan tree.

The Conservation Bundle containing a mix of trees and shrubs.

The Wildlife Cover Bundle designed to help improve habitat and food sources for a several different species of Missouri wildlife.

The Extra-Large Nut Tree Bundle consists of pecan and walnut larger than the normal stock size.

The Quail Cover Bundle provides plants needed for quail food and cover.
