The Missouri Office of Administration, Division of Personnel, recently announced winners of the 2012 Missouri State Employee Awards of Distinction in the categories of Public Service, Leadership, Safety and Heroism. Winners were recognized and awarded at a special ceremony on Thursday, May 10, in the Governor’s Office.
Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) agent Michael Abdon of Cooper County was the winner of the Award of Distinction for Leadership. The award is given to state employees who exemplify and promote outstanding leadership qualities and behaviors.
“Mike gives the Department of Conservation an excellent image in Cooper County and provides a quality balance of resource law enforcement and other responsibilities,” said MDC Director Robert L. Ziehmer. “Honesty, integrity and commitment are all qualities that describe him as an employee and a person. During his career of 15 years as an agent, he has refined his ability to assist, direct, and motivate people.”
Ziehmer added that Abdon is a mentor to other conservation agents and provides excellent public service.

Thanks for your comments, Kelly. I get to work with lots of different folks at MDC, and have found they do a great job of hiring excellent people!
We love our conservation agents here in Wayne and Reynolds county too, especially Brian Towe, he is always availabe to anyone with a problem no matter what. He is kind, helpful, and very approachable to everyone. We are lucky to have him!
