Little Rock Nature Center Wins Awards for Design

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center has picked up two awards for its design. McGraw Hill Construction announced recently that the center won two awards in the South Central Construction category that includes Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee.

The awards were presented in Memphis yesterday. The two awards were the Best of 2009 for Best Cultural Project and Best Public Architecture. Facility director Neil Curry said the nature center was chosen from 124 nominated project in the six states. “It was a nice early Christmas present for us,” Curry said.

The judges based their decisions on the following criteria:

- Solutions to challenges
- Project management
- Construction innovation
- Client service
- Safety
