Persons planning to clean up and prune ice-damaged trees can gain some good tree care advice at one of three tree pruning workshops being held in Springfield on Friday January 26.
“Get some training before you start. You don’t want to make a bad situation worse through improper pruning,” said Paul Whitsell with the Missouri Department of Conservation.
The programs are being conducted by the Missouri Department of Conservation in corporation with University of Missouri Extension and the Springfield-Greene County Library Center.
The following are the times and locations of these three workshops:
* 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center Auditorium, 4600 S. Chrisman, Springfield.
* 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Springfield Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave, Springfield.
* 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the MDC Southwest Regional Office Auditorium, 2630 N. Mayfair, Springfield.
Forestry professionals will discuss storm damage assessment to determine if a tree should be removed or saved by pruning, proper pruning techniques, which tools to use, safety issues and other tree care topics.
