Citizen Journalism Topic of Media Panel Nov. 14 at MSU
A media panel discussion on the topic of “Citizen Journalism and Ethical Practice” will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14 in Room 313 of the Plaster Student Union on the campus of Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo.
The free program is open to the public, area journalists, teachers and students.
Nearby parking is available in the metered visitor lot on the corner of National and Monroe (two blocks south of Cherry).
Panel participants include: Doug McGill, featured speaker, The McGill Report; Dr. Mary Jane Pardue, Associate Professor of Journalism at MSU; Mari Winn, editor of the Joplin Independent; Bob Korpella, publisher of freshare.net; Mike Brothers, columnist for the Springfield News Leader; and Dr. Andrew R. Cline, moderator, Assistant Professor of Journalism at MSU.
The focus of this panel of the program will be on the growing practice of journalism by non-paid citizens (known as citizen journalism) and the difficulties that presents to craft of journalism as well as ethical problems that can arise.
