Forest landowners and managers along with forestry professionals are invited to a Forest Regeneration Workshop hosted by the Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension and Oklahoma Forestry Services.
The workshop will familiarize attendees with various aspects of forest regeneration. Experts from around the state will be on hand to give their presentations at the workshop June 22 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“The panel of experts we have for this workshop are well respected in the forestry arena and offer an abundance of knowlege,” said Craig McKinley, OSU Cooperative Extension forestry specialist.
Topics to be covered with include natural vs artificial forest regeneration, genetics and forest tree improvement, seed handling and nursery procedures, planting trees to insure success, NRCS activities and programs and a field tour of the Oklahoma Forestry Services nursery and facilities.
“Forest landowners, managers and professionals will find this workshop beneficial,” McKinley said.
The workshop will take place at the Albert Engstrom Forest Regeneration Center at Goldsby. To reach the Center, take Exit 104 from Interstate 35 and cross Main Street to Airport Road. Follow Airport Road south until it becomes Center Road (going east) and turn left at NE 12th Avenue and follow to the end of the road.
