After being closed for seven weeks following the January ice storm, Dickerson Park Zoo’s gates reopened to the public at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 3. Crews have been on the park grounds for weeks cleaning up debris and trimming or removing damaged trees.
Dickerson Park Zoo will follow regularly scheduled winter operations during March with gates open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the café open 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The exception to this first weekend’s operations is the miniature train ride which won’t open for weekend hours until March 10.
The zoo will be open daily in March, weather permitting (closed only if walkways are covered with ice or snow). On April 1, Dickerson Park Zoo will begin summer operating hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, regardless of the weather. For information about zoo hours and activities, please visit the zoo’s Web site, http://www.dickersonparkzoo.org, or call the zoo’s recorded hotline, 417-864-1800.
