Devil’s Den State Park has joined Lake Atalanta in Rogers, Lake Brittany in Bella Vista and Murphy Park in Springdale as Northwest Arkansas lakes and ponds with rainbow trout action.

The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission stocked Lake Devil, the small pond that is created behind a native stone dam at the park, with about 500 pounds of rainbow.

Tim Scott, assistant park superintendent at Devil’s Den, said there are fishermen at the pond every day. And he said that yellow Power Bait and Rooster Tail spinners were the favored methods of landing a few trout.

The 700 rainbow trout placed into Lake Devil are part of a one time stocking at the state park located near Winslow, Arkansas. The fish are anywhere from 10 to 12 inches in size and fishermen are allowed a daily limit of five fish. An Arkansas fishing license and trout stamp are required.

Scott added that the fishing is good.
