The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is conducting a statewide channel catfish tagging study. The study will evaluate the effectiveness of stocking channel catfish in lakes and streams.
The tags have the words “Reward” printed on them. Anglers that call the number on the tag, answer a few questions and mail the tag will receive a reward ranging from $10 to $100. The amount is determined randomly.
This spring, reward-tagged catfish were stocked in Bob Kidd Lake, Cane Creek Lake and the Ouachita River near Arkadelphia. Other waters previously stocked with reward tagged catfish include Beaver Lake, Bull Shoals Lake, Caddo River, Lake Conway, Crooked Creek, DeGray Lake, Fourche La Fave River, Gillham Lake, Lake Hinkle, Lake Hogue, Little Missouri River, Lake Ouachita, Norfork Lake, Lake Overcup, Little Missouri River and the White River.

Great to see more states taking ownership in increasing catfish populations. There seems to be more and more states implementing similar programs and catfish conversation programs.
