Bass Pro Shops is looking foward to a big Christmas despite the current economic climate.
Having added more than 1,500 jobs at its 52 retail operations nationwide, Bass Pro feels it is making an investment into the tradition of Christmas for families. Founder Johhny Morris said,
“Christmas is a magical time of year for all of us. We want to invite our customers to bring the kids and grandkids and make memories that last a lifetime at our very special Santa’s Wonderland.”
The Wonderland includes a village setting for children that features both animated and live elves, Lionel and Bachmann old-time model trains area, Fisher Price remote control cars, a Red Ryder laser arcade, a Nerf soft gun range and activity tables where children can write a letter to Santa, color and do fun crafts every weekend and it’s all absolutely free. Of course, Santa himself will be on hand throughout the season.
The company will also be collecting toys to be distributed to local children’s charities and ask customers to buy or bring by a new toy for that drive. And Bass Pro is strongly helping to support the troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan by collecting donations, signing personal greetings to the soldiers and collecting monies for AMVETS.
Bass Pro will kick off the Christmas season on November 9 from 5pm to 8pm with local children’s choirs singing carols and by treating customers to hot chocolate and cookies.
And on Thanksgiving, Bass Pro parking lots will be open all night for shoppers who want to camp out and be first in line for sales the next morning. Hot chocolate, smores and coffee will be served from 5pm to 8pm and drawings for gift cards will be held every half hour. Customers will also be able to register to win a $1,000 Bass Pro Shops gift card and a $5,000 Shell gasoline card.
