The public is invited to a free concert by “American Idol” Season One runner-up Justin Guarini at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Jordan Valley Park, 735 E. Trafficway, as part of the 7th annual Springfield-Greene County Park Board Summer SnowFest.

Continuing his successful relationship with “Idol,” Guarini appears as a special correspondent on TV Guide Channel’s nationally televised program “Idol Tonight.” Guarini also serves as co-host of “Idol Wrap,” a fast-paced review of the previous week’s episode of “American Idol.”

Guarini’s credits include: two albums, “Justin Guarini,” produced by RCA Records and Clive Davis and “Stranger Things Have Happened”; a major motion picture, “From Justin to Kelly”; numerous appearances on popular television programs; and has held concerts in the U.S. and in countries abroad including Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Japan. The recently completed family/action film “Fast Girl,” in which Guarini stars as professional racecar driver Darryl K. Sands, was released on DVD in January 2008. The film also stars Caroline Rhea and Mircea Monroe in the title role.

SnowFest runs from 4 - 9 p.m., and includes a “mountain” of snow to play in, military equipment, interactive games, snowman-building contests, inflatables for the smaller kids and giveaways. Local live entertainment acts will include HOTBOX at 4 p.m. and C-Club at 5:30 p.m.

The Springfield Police Department also will feature its Safety Expo that same day. Held across the street at the Springfield Exposition Center from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., the event will include K-9 demonstrations, helicopters from area hospitals, giveaways, specialized police equipment that kids can climb into, and an opportunity to meet emergency response personnel. The Safety Expo is also a free event and allows families a chance to get downtown a little early to make a full day out of the activities.

SnowFest is sponsored by the Springfield Cardinals, Ozarks Coca Cola/Dr. Pepper Bottling Company, KGBX 105.9, Dominos Pizza, OzarkMoms.com, Springfield Public Schools, Travelers Insurance and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
